Fashola Tasks Civil Servants On Proper Dressing

Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing on Tuesday, charged civil servants to always dress well and work hard in order to actualize government’s plan to lift greater number of the nation’s population out of poverty.

The Minister, who gave the charge during 2018 Recognition and Reward Ceremony for staff of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing in Abuja, noted that government comprise of the civil servants, politicians and the public servants who work on a daily basis for the well being of people in the country.

The occasion was organized to mark the reward of some staff of the ministries, parastatals and agencies under the minister in 2018 for their outstanding performance during the time under review.


“Dress well to the office. You are the public image of Nigeria” he said.

Fashola also tasked the workers to always remember how important their roles are in the society as they have the power through their works to change the fortunes of the nation through hard work and dedication to work.

According to him, civil servants are the foot soldiers who carry out government policies on a day to day basis.

Ahmed Al-Gazali, the Chairman Civil Service Commission, such exercise should be encouraged not only in the civil service but also in private workers as it encourages productivity among MDA staffs.

Represented by Engr. Fatai Olapade, while commending the ministry said the exercise of reward and recognition as organized by Fashola is in line with the chapter 15 of the civil service rule.

He expressed faith in the transparency of the selection of the awardees, assuring that everything was done basically on merit.

He urged the civil servants to work hard and braced up for the upcoming promotion exams, stressing that there will be no possibility for lobbying.

“Brace up for the upcoming directorate exams. It is not going to be possible for anybody to lobby anybody” he said.
