Recalled that in February, 19, 2018, it was reported in news that some girls of Government Girls Science Secondary School in located in Dapchi, Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State were kidnapped by terrorists, as Boko Haram claimed that they were responsible for the kidnap in the video that was shared online by the sect.
It was made known that while the girls were in captivity, five of them died and during negotiation with the Federal Government, 104 school girls were released, as the initial number of girls that were kidnapped were 110.
After the girls were released, it was discovered that one was still held captive by Boko haram, and her name was given Leah Sharibu.
Why wasn’t Leah Sharibu released ?
It was made known that while they were in captivity, Leah Sharibu refused to deny her religion, Christianity, despite the fact that the girls that were released were forced to accept Islam, but Leah stood her ground and due to this, they didn’t release her and till today, nobody knows if Leah Sharibu is still alive or she has been converted to muslim or not.
The last time we heard from Leah Sharibu was in April 2018 when she said that, the Federal Government should help her and release her from the hands of her abductors, as she is in serious pain, as she said this in a voice note that was released by Boko Haram insurgents online.
Since then, it’s a pity that no one has heard anything from Leah Sharibu, as it seems everyone has even forgotten her, even Christian groups or organizations don’t talk about her or her release again, and this is another Christmas Leah Sharibu will be spending in the strange land she knows nothing about.
