The All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has defended the party’s all Muslim presidential ticket saying it signposts positive development for Nigeria.
Speaking with State House correspondents after a close-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, August 4, Senator Adamu said the dust raised by the same faith ticket would be settled before the February, 2023 presidential poll.

as saying:
“Yes, we have been hearing concerns being expressed. In the APC, we believe very strongly, that no matter what description, no matter what faith you will associate with any one of our candidates, we are first and foremost Nigerians.
“There is no doubt in the fact that we have people who stock trade on some of these religious issues. Just like you have people expressing fears, or concerns about a Muslim-Muslim ticket, there are Christians that welcome it as a positive development, in Nigerian politics.”
Muslim-Muslim ticket: APC has rejected Christians – Bishop Ibezim
On his part, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger , and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Anglican Communion, Most Revd Alexander Ibezim, has said that the decision of the APC to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election was totally unacceptable.
Daily Sun newspaper reports
that Bishop Ibezim noted that by the action, the APC had sent a clear message to Christians in Nigeria that they do not matter and that they would be treated as second class citizens in their own country henceforth.
APC appoints Festus Keyamo as spokesman for Tinubu campaign team
In a related development, the APC has announced the minister of state for labour and productivity, Festus Keyamo as the interim spokesman of the party’s campaign council.
The party also announced that Hannatu Musawa will deputise the minister in the campaing communication team.
Senator Adamu disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Wednesday, August 3.
2023: Ex-APC presidential aspirant declares support for Peter Obi
Meanwhile, a former presidential aspirant of the APC in the 2019 presidential election, Dr. SKC Ogbonnia has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Ogbonnia said that his endorsement of Obi was because the LP presidential candidate is a ‘Democratic Revolution Whose Time Has Come.’
He added that though he was endorsing Obi, he remains a member of the APC.
