The former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has been cautioned by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no good intentions for him.
He went on to say that the APC does not like the former President but only wants to ruin his good reputation.
The River state governor cautioned Jonathan not to be fooled by the promise of a presidential ticket for the ruling party in 2023, claiming that it is all a ploy to spoil his name.
According to the statement released in an interview with BBC News Pidgin on Friday, the Rivers State Governor expressed his opinion on the allegations of Jonathan’ s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike also warned Jonathan not to be fooled by the ruling party’ s agenda while informing him of the harsh and bad things they said about him in the 2015 presidential election.
His statement reads, ” I’ m going to tell him not to go anyplace because these people don’ t like him. You should be aware that they do not like you. What have they said about you that they haven’ t already said? ‘ Have they changed their minds about everything they said about you? ‘
” The APC is solely interested in bringing in PDP members with names and destroying them because they have nowhere to go. That is exactly what the APC is doing, ” Wike stated.
The Governor went on to say that he has nothing but respect for Jonathan and if he wants to run for President again, he should do so on the PDP’ s platform rather than the APC’ s.
Wike vowed to back him up if he runs on the PDP platform.
” I hold the past President in high regard. I am aware that he is a trustworthy person. ‘ Sir, please don’ t make that mistake, ‘ I’ d tell him if I had the chance to advise him. If you want to run for President, you should do it under the PDP banner. Nigerians hold you in more regard than this government. They’ ve seen that everything the administration promised them was a lie. ”
” If he runs under the PDP banner, he should count on my full support, ” Wike said.
Meanwhile, former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that if electronic results transmission can be used for the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, it will be a dream come true for him.
He claims that this will strengthen Nigerian democracy and demonstrate that the country is progressing on its democratic path.
Jonathan went on to say that using electronic results transmission will improve the electoral process’ transparency and ensure free and fair elections in Nigeria.
