2023: Jega Confirms Joining Politics, Reveals His Political Mentor

A former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has said that he joined the Peoples Redemption Party, PDP, ahead of 2023, because he remains a disciple of its Founder, late Mallam Aminu Kano.
The former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, during the Military administration of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, presently teaches Political Science at Bayero University, Kano.
He was asked by Journalists to confirm a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PRP, Abdul Gombe, that he has joined the party to chair the Committee of its strength, weakness, opportunities and threat analysis, ahead of 2023.

The choice of Jega was ratified during the 62nd National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the PRP, which held in Kaduna, on June 22.

While confirming that he has joined the PRP, Jega said: “Yes, I am one of his (Aminu Kano) disciples”, but gave no details.

Recall, that Gombe had said that Jega was chosen to re-position the PRP for more nationalistic outlook, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
