6 Common Reasons Why Men Cheat

It’s well known that men are far more likely to cheat on their partners than women. And if you need proof this, a 2015 YouGov poll found that 21 percent of men (compared to 19 percent of women) had actually admitted to cheating in the past. But the question still remains why do men cheat:

1. His Ex coming back into the picture.

When an ex shows up, “Men remember that spark.” So he is in a situation where he’s ignoring the good parts of his current relationship and not ignoring the bad parts and this likely led to a breakup or cheating.

2. He wants out of the relationship.

“One of the reasons people cheat is because it’s an impetus for change,” says Kristen Mark, director of the Sexual Health Promotion Lab at the University of Kentucky. ”

Having the drive for change is necessary for some people to get out relationships if especially he is the only one who the change, it could lead a man to cheat.

3. His needs are not being meet.

Those has nothing to do with sex, although sometimes it could be sex. In some situation it could be the little things that don’t really matter like complimenting his new haircut, and his partner hasn’t done in a very long time.

Also, it could be weeks of fighting or it has been too long since he and his partner shared a laugh. Or maybe he feeling ignored and neglected. Whatever the reason, there’s a deficit in the relationship that reinforced an emotional disconnect.

4. He is feeling depressed.

“If he’s feeling lonely within his relationship, it emasculated in some way, or angry with his partner,” says Laurel Steinberg, a New York based relationship therapist and professor of psychology at Columbia University.

And if he is feeling depressed it could certainly lead a man to cheating.

5. He is a sex addict.

Most men tend to sex too much than women, and if a man is a relationship where his partner doesn’t like sex that much, it will lead the men to cheat.

6. He is an a**hole.

If you find a man saying he’s unafraid of the consequences of sex like getting an STI, and impregnating someone he’s more likely to cheat. This type of men tend to be called f**kboy or player.
