Abba Town: Prince Arthur Eze Nigerian Police Limited

Loading...

It is disheartening that the Nigerian Police Force has become a personalized force because of individual patronage; it is more worrisome that the Inspector General of Police will belittle his status to the whims and caprices of an individual to subvert justice; where an Inspector General of Police becomes partisan in case before a competent court outside his jurisdiction, the common man cannot hope to get justice from such police force.

The people of Abba, Ukpo and Ukwulu have a subsisting land dispute which is before a competent court, but the actions and inactions of the Inspector General of Police has since made it clear that the people of Abba have been marked for harassment, intimidation and subjugation from the Nigerian Police; this is irrespective of a subsisting interlocutory injunction obtained by the people of Abba from a Federal High Court, restraining the Nigerian Police and her agents from any further unlawful arrest and detention of the people of Abba with regards to the land dispute. The order reads inter alia:

That order is hereby made restraining the Defendant/Respondent (The Inspector General of Police) by himself/his officers and operatives from continued sealing off/shutting down trading/ business/commercial activities and harassing, intimidating, arresting, dispersing the Plaintiffs/

Applicants (People of Abba Community) and members of the public from lawful trading at the Oye Abba Market along the Enugu/Onitsha express way, in Abba Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State or any manner whatsoever disrupting trading/business and commercial activities at the said Oye Market, pending the hearing and determination of this suit (Suit No: FHC/PH/CS/188/2019) obtained 13th September, 2019

This interlocutory order was obtained after the Supreme Court had directed all parties in the land dispute to proceed back to the High Court due to prevailing circumstances in a directive marked: SC. 589/2019, and pursuant to this directive by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Abba filed a motion of notice in High Court, Neni, Anaocha Judicial Division.

The motion on notice which was in reference to Suit No: AA/53/75 consolidated with Suit No: AA/11/77 has number NN/682M/2019 and hearing was fixed for 12th November, 2019.

The directive of the Supreme Court and the desire of Abba community to follow the law in pursuing her case in the land dispute have not gone down well with the people of Ukpo and Ukwulu, spearheaded by Prince Arthur Eze, hence the collaboration between Arthur Eze and the Nigerian Police to intimidate, harass and unlawfully arrest and detain the people of Abba, irrespective of the interlocutory injunction obtained against this actions by the Nigerian Police.

While the Nigerian Police pretended to obey the court order, the Commander of SARS, Awkuzu command, Mr. Patrick Emeka Aghazue and his errand boy, Mr. Everistus Chike (both Nigerian Police Officers) have continued to arrest and detain indigenes of Abba without any charge just to satisfy the ego of their paymaster, Prince Arthur Eze, who has since bought over the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. John Abang who claims to be obeying the directives from Abuja by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu.

More worrisome is the fact that when the interlocutory injunction case instituted against the Inspector General of Police by the Abba community was called up in a Federal High Court, Awka, Anambra State on 5th November 2019, the Inspector General (IG) of Police was represented by a private attorney, this implies that either the legal department of the Nigerian Police Force has become too incompetent to represent the IG or that the Ministry of Justice has refused to have anything to do with the case against the IG, or someone somewhere who has an ulterior motive decided to hire a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) with the attendant huge legal fee charged by this class of legal practitioners to represent the IG.

This single action of the IG of Police can only collaborate with our earlier assertions that the IG has been bought over by an interested party in the land dispute, Prince Arthur Eze, who couldn’t hide from his shameful actions with the IG as he, through their attorney applied to be joined in the suit against the IG, even when the case has nothing to do with either Ukpo or Ukwulu.

Nigerians and the world must note one thing, the continued harassment, molestation, subjugation and detention of the people of Abba community is shamelessly sponsored by Prince Arthur Eze who has incorporated with the IG of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the Commissioner of Police of Anambra State, John Abang and the SARS commander in Awkuzu, Patrick Emeka Aghazue to constitute lawlessness and disobedience to court orders.

The people of Abba are peace loving people and have continued to explore every legal means to fight their course, but we hope that the world is watching what is presently playing out because time may come when this peace loving people may be forced to act to remain alive in the presence of this present high-handedness and oppression aimed at exterminating them.
