The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Thursday became the first country to book their spot in the next phase of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, following their 4- 1 demolition of Ethiopia at Stade Olembe.
The five- time African Cup of Nations champions came from a goal behind to get the much- needed victory which book a spot for them in the knockout stage of the competition.
The game kicked off with so much intensity as both teams were searching for a breakthrough in the intriguing encounter, but it was the visitors who got on the scores sheet first in the 4th minute when Dawa Hotessa scored a stunning goal to put his team in front.
Four minutes later, the home team responded when Karl Toko Ekambi scored his first goal of the game in the 8th minute to bring his team back into the game, and the first half of the intriguing encounter ended one goal apiece for both teams.
The second half of the game began with so much pressure from both sides as they continue to search for the first goal of the second half of the game. The Indomitable Lions however took the control of the game dominating possession in search of a winning goal.
After the host nation dominated the first few minutes of the second half, they got crowned for their efforts in the 50th minute when Vincent Aboubakar registered the third goal of the game to give his team the lead.
Two minutes later, the Al- Nassr man, Vincent Aboubakar scored his second goal of the game in the 55th minute to give the Indomitable Lions absolute control of the game.
Karl Toko Ekambi scored the last goal of the game in the 67th minute to finally take the game away from the visitors who continue to struggle in the game as they were unable to register any goal in the second half of the contest.
Karl Toko Ekambi was named as the man of the match after his incredible display in the game which inspired the Indomitable Lions to the resounding victory over Ethiopia.
