Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has condemned the statements made by the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El- Rufai that the Southern Governors are making laws that will not be implemented.
Recall that El- Rufai while speaking during a visit to the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday revealed that the Northern Governors have a plan to tackle the herders and farmers conflict, and also condemned the anti- open grazing law in the Southern part of the country.
” What is unhelpful is to politicize the situation and pass legislation that you know that you cannot implement. So, we have taken a position and we are working round the clock to implement that position, ” El- Rufai said.
While reacting to the statement through the Ondo State Commissioner for Information and orientation, Donald Ojogo, Governor Akeredolu who is the Chairman of the 17 Southern Governors described El- Rufai as someone promoting anarchy if true he made such statements.
” For emphasis, any such comment like that of the Kaduna Governor, if indeed he made that statement, merely seeks to encourage anarchy under the guise ” of resentment of a Law by affected stakeholders” .
” It’ s a ploy beyond the ordinary. It must, however, be noted that the Anti- Grazing Law, especially in Ondo State, has come to stay. It shall be zealously guarded and conscionably deployed to protect all residents of Ondo State, notwithstanding their ethnic and religious biases. Those who have nothing evil to perpetrate have nothing to fear as regards the Law. ”
