President Buhari is known to be the type of President who travels to different countries either for personal or national reasons. During his first 4 years tenure as the President of Nigeria, Buhari embarked on several travelling in which most of them were related to Medical reasons and this made Nigerians give him nicknames due to his travel expeditions.
Recently, the Nigerian President had left Nigeria for Ethiopia to attend the inauguration of the Ethiopian prime minister who won the election in June and this would secure another 5- year tenure as the leader of the East African country ( Ethiopia). The travelling of President Buhari to Ethiopia came few days after he returned from New York City, USA following the end of the United Nations 76th summit.
In a report made by Sahara reporters, the special adviser to the President on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina revealed that the President’ s visit to Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia is to deliver a goodwill message to the Ethiopian leader, Abiy Ahmed as he prepares to rule Ethiopia for another 5 years. It was reported that President Buhari would be accompanied by two members of his cabinet namely: – Geoffrey onyeama ( Foreign affairs minister) and Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director- General of the National intelligence agency ( NIA).
Femi Adesina also added that after the President attends the inauguration of the Ethiopian prime minister, he would also attend a ceremony in Addis Ababa to honour the visiting heads of state and government. According to the media adviser, Buhari would return to Nigeria on Tuesday which is the 5th of October.
After the return of the President on Tuesday, it is expected that he would commence his duties fully and focus his attention on Nigerian related matters as no other international or African visit would emerge anytime soon.
The prime minister of Ethiopia, Aiby Ahmed won a second term after his party, the ‘ prosperity party’ won the parliamentary election after securing the majority votes in June 2021. The prosperity party is the ruling party of Ethiopia and of course, it explains Why the prime minister had an easy victory in the election and according to reports, prosperity holds the majority of the parliament in Ethiopia.
