A report from Vanguard news, has it that Akwa Ibom state government have threaten to seal some hotels and other relaxation centres in the state that is believed to be housing cultists and criminals in the state.
Vanguard news reporter, Harries Emanuel were among the reporters in the state’s capital city, Uyo when the commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, disclosed the intending action of the state government.
According to the commissioner, as reported, the decision became necessary as the government had gathered that the relaxation and entertainment centres have tacit agreement with cultists and criminals to use their facilities to harbour and carry out their illegal and criminal activities. He restated the commitment of the state government to ensuring the peace and safety of its populace.
However, he did not state categorically the extent of punishment to be given to the offenders, but said the state’s ministry of culture and and tourism, with some security agencies as a team, have been tasked to oversee the order.
