Amaechi Supporter Feared Dead, Others Hospitalized While Returning From APC Presidential Convention
One person is feared dead and others hospitalized as members of Amaechi Vanguard involved in fatal auto crash while returning from presidential primaries
our correspondent gathered that the Rivers state coordinator Innocent A Amadi was among person hospitalized.
It was reported that the Rivers joy transport conveying supporters of the group summersaulted three times.
The report which filtered into Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Thursday, said the unfortunate accident has claimed the life of the Secretary of the APC in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area (AKULGA), Rivers State. The source which spoke, did not disclose the name of the deceased APC Secretary, neither was the location where the crash took place mentioned.
He further disclosed that many who boarded the vehicle marked ‘Rivers Joy’, sustained various degrees of injuries and have been rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Another report on the incident on a social media platform, appealed to persons whose friends and relatives travelled via Rivers Joy Transport Company to Abuja for the APC Convention, held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 7th and 8th of June, 2022 respectively, to immediately reach out to them and ascertain their safety.
The reported death of the AKULGA APC Secretary may become somewhat of a double tragedy for the APC in Rivers State as Amaechi’s presidential ambition was dashed following his defeat by former Lagos State governor and APC Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who polled 1,271 votes against Amaechi’s 316.
