The All Progressive Congress (APC) party has made claims that what the people of Anambra need is an APC candidate and not APGA (All Progressive Grand Alliance) which has been ruling the state for many years now.
This came after it was reported that the APGA candidate, Professor Charles Soludo secured the majority of the votes in many local government areas in the state.
According to the party, it would be a slap to the party if the INEC do not announce their candidate Andy Ubah, as the winner of the Anambra governorship election.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the APGA candidate, Charles Soludo, secured a total number of 103, 946 votes, and has won the election in 18 out of the 21 local government areas of the state. While Mr. Valentine Ozigbo of the People’ s Democratic Party (PDP) and Andy Ubah of the All Progressive Congress won in only one local government area respectively.
Reacting to this announcement by the INEC, the Chairman of the APC in the state, Chief Basil Ejidike noted that the election was full of rigging, adding that the party is not in support of the result.
According to him, the sitting governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano in collaboration with the APGA candidate, Soludo, and the INEC officials manipulated the election.
He also stated that the electoral commission has to conduct another election devoid of any manipulation or rigging. Chief Basil also resolved that the party would sue INEC if it does not declare their candidate the winner.
” What is happening in Anambra is never an election, but big- time electoral fraud and malpractice. We want the whole world to hear our voice that we will never accept the outcome of the Anambra gubernatorial election.
The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance and the sitting governor, Willie Obiano, manipulated the whole electoral system and we will stand to resist it.
Ndi Anambra wants an APC governor and there’ s nothing anyone can do to deny them that opportunity. We virtually won in all the local governments, but Willie Obiano and Charles Soludo, through the instrumentality of corrupt INEC officers, subverted the whole process in favor of APGA.
We want INEC to cancel the election and fix a date for a fresh election devoid of manipulation and malpractices. But if INEC goes ahead to announce the results, we will definitely challenge the election process in the court of law, up to the Supreme Court. Nobody can intimidate us, ” he said.
