Anambra Election: Andy Uba Releases Official Statement, Sends Message To Supporters

The governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress in the just concluded Anambra State election, Senator Andy Uba, has appreciated his supporters as we well as the people of the state.

Uba expressed profound gratitude to members of the party, the campaign team and Anambra people in a statement he posted on his Facebook age on Wednesday, November 17.

The governorship candidate said: ” My simple duty here is to show appreciation to all those that supported my aspirations in one way or the other.

Many persons made sacrifices, individually and collectively, to support our aspiration and I thank them all immensely.

” To our great party, the All Progressives Congress, thank You for allowing me to fly the flag of this great party, as its gubernatorial candidate for the Anambra State 2021 governorship election.

” Many people worked tirelessly to ensure the success of our campaign, with several donating their money, their time, family time, energy and other materials to support us;

I am grateful to you all. Your commitment remains unmatched and I will always be grateful. ”

Senator Andy Uba also disclosed that his team had reviewed the outcome of the November 6, poll and resolved that there were enough grounds to challenge the declaration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as the winner of the election.

He said ” Now that INEC has declared the result and announced the APGA candidate, Professor Charles Chukwuma as winner, I urge that we remain law- abiding.

Having met with my team, party hierarchy, etc and analyse data from our field officers, we can boldly state that preliminary check shows that we have grounds to challenge INEC declaration at the tribunal in line with the electoral process. ”

Meanwhile, Senator Andy Uba, has been advised to accept the result of the just- concluded poll.

The call was made by Rommy Okoli, a former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship aspirant in Anambra during an interview on Wednesday, November 17, in Awka.

Premium Times reports that the APGA chieftain described Soludo’ s victory as ” profound and widely accepted by Anambra people and lovers of democracy” .

While noting that Senator Andy Uba will not achieve anything by embarking on litigation against Soludo, Okoli urged the governorship candidate to drop his plans to contest the result in court.

He said: ” Doing that will instead make people hate him more. Anambra people have spoken in unison, I congratulate the winner and call for restitution, reconciliation, reconstruction and rebuilding of Anambra that everyone will be proud of. ”

Also, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) on Tuesday, November 16 advised those who contested and lost in the just- concluded Anambra governorship election to accept the outcome and support the winner.

MASSOB warned those considering litigation to think twice, noting that their lawyers would always give them hope of winning through court because of their personal interest.

The pro- Biafra group, gave the advice in a statement issued by its spokesman, Edeson Samuel.

Part of the statement published by The Punch newspaper read:

” MASSOB wishes to advise other contestants that lost in the Anambra state governorship election to think twice before approaching courts.

” They should know that their lawyers will always give them hope of winning through the court because of their personal interest. “
