As the Independent National Electoral Commission holds a supplementary for Ihiala local government, heavy security operatives were deployed for the exercise.
According to reliable sources, a large number of the men of the Nigeria Police Force, the Army, Civil Defense, DSS, among others along the various roads in Ihiala and also at the local government secretariat were observed.
INEC officials as well as the adhoc staffs are currently sorting out and distributing materials for various polling units. Recall that Anambra November sixth governorship election was inconclusive as the election did not take place in Ihiala local government.
The Returning Officer for the Anambra Governorship election, Professor Florence Obi, had said that there was a need for the election to hold in Ihiala, so that the people would not be denied their civic rights and to give room for the winner to be declared successfully.
Though, Professor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA is already leading with over 50, 000 votes and is expected to maintain that lead after the conduct of the Ihiala local government area.
As of the time of this report, INEC adhoc staffs and materials are yet to leave the local government’ s INEC office to their respective polling units.
Anambra State Supplementary Election: INEC Deploy Personnel, Election Materials
According to verified reports, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deployed staff and equipment prior to the holding of the additional election in the Anambra State Region of the Ihiala Municipality.
According to Channels Television crew at the Headquarters of Ihiala Local Government on Tuesday morning witnessed high- security presence when the deployment started at 10: 00 a. m.
The materials for the exercise were loaded into vehicles and INEC staff who were accompanied by armed security officers on their way from the local government to the voting centre.
The extra election is scheduled for 10: 00 a. m. to 4: 00 p. m.
