SaharaReporters gathered that, soldiers patrolling the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State shot and killed a middle- aged man. Soldiers from a patrol van are said to have opened fire on commuters on Tuesday, hundreds of meters from the local government headquarters.

According to FIJ, a crowd had gathered around the guy, leading the soldiers to return and fire irregularly once again, sending residents fleeing for safety.

The man’ s body was not found, despite reports that he had been picked up by soldiers.

Soldiers compelled all passengers to alight from their automobiles and raise both hands to full length, making it impossible to videotape the occurrence.

Remember that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set a date for a supplemental election in the council where the governorship election did not take place over the weekend on Sunday. The compilation of results for the governorship election has also been halted by INEC.

Out of the 21 council areas in the state, Ihiala is the only one where elections were not held.

INEC announced results for 20 of the 21 local government areas on Sunday, with Charles, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winning 18 of them.

Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, announced on Monday that the supplementary election will take place on Tuesday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m.

Recall that during the collation of results on Sunday, Ahmadu Umar, the collation officer for Ihiala, claimed there was no election in the area.

He did not, however, explain why there was no election in Ihiala.

He stated that the LGA had 148, 407 registered voters, but that the election did not take place in Ihiala.

The holding of the Anambra State governorship election in the state’ s local government area was delayed.

The malfunctioning of the INEC’ s Bimodal System devices, BIVAS, as well as the difficult security situation on Saturday, were also reported by SaharaReporters, affecting turnout and the election’ s smooth flow.
