Anambra Guber: I Didn’t Faint Or Call For Cancellation Of Election- APC Chairman

Basil Ejidike, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, has denied that his party advocated for the cancellation of the state’ s governorship election scheduled for November 6, according to reports.

Ejidike also disputed reports that he had fallen after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) in local government elections in his home state of Ogun.

During the campaign, a photograph purported to show him collapsing gained widespread attention on social media the day before the election.

The photograph of a man on his knees being helped into a car was later revealed to be a fabrication.

Ejidike, speaking at a news conference held at the APC’ s secretariat in Awka on Monday, denied the claims and stated his party’ s stand on the upcoming election.

‘ I was taken aback when I saw on social media that the APC had called for the election to be called off, that the party’ s chairman had fainted, and that one of his polling units had gone missing. ‘

” Each and every one of the reports was false, and I never said anything like that in the media. ”

According to him, ” we could not have called for the results to be thrown out in the middle of an election. ”

Additionally, Ejidike urged the INEC to correct reported irregularities in Idemili North, Orumba North, Anambra East, Ayamelum, Anambra West, and Awka North, which were all in Anambra State.

‘ However, at this point, what we’ re urging the electoral umpire to do is right the wrong because there were a number of irregularities in the governorship election on Saturday, ‘ he said. ”

The INEC’ s returning officer, Florence Obi, declared the Anambra governorship election inconclusive due to concerns about insecurity.

On Tuesday, November 9, Obi announced that a supplementary election would be held in 362 polling units throughout the Ihiala Local Government Area.
