The Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC in the early hours of Monday have declared the Saturday 6th November governorship election in Anambra state inconclusive.
According to Punch News Nigeria the electoral commission in Anambra state made the declaration on Monday morning in Awka the satte capital.
The declaration follows series of factors which deemed the Saturday 6th election not concluded.
Speaking to journalists the INEC returning officer of the Anambra governorship election Mrs Obi said that there was need to suspend the announcement of the winner of the governorship election due to the failure of the commission to conducts election in some local government areas following security challenges.
She noted that INEC have not conducted the election in 326 constituencies in Ihiala local government area of the state.
Meanwhile, Charles Soludo of the Al Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA won 18 out of the 20 local government areas already declared by INEC in the Anambra gubernatorial election with 103, 946 votes

The Nigeria’ s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the announcement of the Anambra gubernatorial election results, citing security concerns.
INEC said its would not announce the winner of the Anambra gubernatorial election until it got the results of 326 constituencies in Ihiala Local Government Area.
The returning officer Professor Florence Obi said Ihiala’ s results were crucial to fulfilling the requirements of the Electoral Act where a candidate must get one- fourth of the vote or 25 percent of the two- thirds of the state’ s local government seats.
The suplementary election are expected to be held on Tuesday, however, the INEC expressed security concerns in the affected local government area.
Mrs Obi as quoted by News Agency of Nigeria, NAN said, ” As the Electoral Officer, I hereby announce the suspension of result announcement until elections are held in all the polling units in Ihiala local government area.
