In Ondo State, members of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun, stopped a bus loaded with 500 daggers hidden beneath the seats.

They also discovered other knives and firearms stashed within Tigernut packs. In addition, 18 people suspected of being bandits who were in the truck were apprehended, while others managed to flee.

Adetunji Adeleye, the state commander of the Amotekun Corps, claimed the three buses escaped from multiple checkpoints before being intercepted in Ondo town, while presenting the suspects to press in Akure.


Meanwhile, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu praised Amotekun Corps operatives for filling the void created in the state by military personnel.

Army servicemen had abandoned checkpoints in the state after alleging that the state administration owed them allowances.

Amotekun, the Oyo State chapter of the Western Nigeria Security Network, seized a truck laden with gunmen presumed to be herdsmen on their way to the Igangan community.

Remember that when a seven- day ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen to quit the area expired in Igangan, some houses and vehicles were set on fire by enraged youths.

The Oyo State Amotekun, Ido unit, led by Gbenga Olanrewaju, made the arrest. The suspected ranchers are thought to be in possession of about 25 dane guns and ten dogs.

According to sources, the truck has the registration number Kebbi, TUR30ZY, and Amotekun officers recovered 25 firearms and ten dogs in the truck with the suspects.


The suspects were handed over to the police in Ido for further profiling, according to our correspondent. The arrest was verified by a Corp officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity when contacted.

Residents were alleged to have flocked to the scene in response to the search, but in order to prevent a crisis, security agents took the vehicle and its occupants to the Testing Ground area of Iwo Road, where they were handed over to the police for further investigation.
