APC Reveals What It Will Do If INEC Refuses To Cancel Anambra Election As Soludo Wins In Many LGAs

According to verified reports, the All Progressives Congress, APC, called upon the electoral arbitrator to annul the election of the governor of the state of Anambra.

In the interest of the All Progressives Congress, APC, its Chairman in the state, Basil Ejidike, has sworn that the party would not accept the election result. He also claimed the election had been rigged by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). This claim came after the evidence showed that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the election, Prof. Charles Soludo is leading others.

Based on a report from The Punch Newspaper, Soludo has previously won 17 of the 19 LGAs declared so far in the State whereas two other candidates have won each of the two remaining LGAs announced.

What All Progressives Congress, APC vowed to do if INEC doesn’ t cancel the election

The All Progressives Congress, APC vowed that it would take legal action to cancel the election if INEC did not meet its request. The Chairman in the state, Basil Ejidike, said that no one can cheat or intimidate the APC in this matter.

He went on to say that if the INEC does not annul the election, Then they would initiate a court action aimed at getting the commission to do what was necessary for a new election without rigging to be conducted in the state of Anambra. He likewise said that if that is done, he was confident that his party would win.

Was the election rigged like APC claims?

The answer is nowhere to be found. Only APC can persuade the court whether the choice was rigged or not. As a matter of law, the burden of proof lies with the applicant. This means that for the applicant to win the court case, the person must present sufficient facts and call several witnesses to support his or her claim.

In this case, APC must provide sufficient facts, documentation, video clips and other evidence in support of his claim that the election was substantially rigged. It must also call enough eyewitnesses to testify and give further details on how the rigging was done.

The most important thing, APC must satisfy the court that the aforementioned ‘ rigging’ reasonably affects the overall result of the election. That is the only way the court can consider accepting its request to annul the election and order the INEC to hold a new one. It is important to note that the INEC alone will try to defend the elections.

It is not easy to run over the whole process of conducting a fresh election just because one party out of 17 others that it did not favour claimed that it was rigged. This party must demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt.
