David Luiz has insisted he won’t mind giving up his preferred role in the Gunner’s defense for the arrival of Gunner’s newbie Pablo Mari.
Since swapping Chelsea for Arsenal in the summer, Luiz has operated as the left-sided centre-back at Arsenal underneath all coaches he’s had.
But the left side of the centre back is the favoured role of new player Mari, who was signed on loan from Flamengo until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old hasn’t featured for the Gunners as he continues to work on his fitness in Dubai but could be involved after the when Arsenal host Newcastle United on Sunday when they play.
But Luiz insists he would happily switch roles just to accommodate the presence of the new arrival Mari in the Gunner’s defense set up.
Mari who’s also a Brazil international will be playing his game with Arsenal for the rest of the season on Loan of which he will wait to see if the Gunners would activate the option in the agreed deal with Flamengo.
Luiz said “Switching position is not strange to me..and as you all know I have played various positions over my career and I’m used to challenge and changes… I’ll happily switch to accommodate him (Mari) since it is his natural position”
How change if personnel would improve or affect Arsenal’s backline is what the whole of footballing world wants to see.
