The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the last election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the death of Alhaji Umaru Badami, the father of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri
The death of Umaru Badami was announced by the governor’s spokesman, Solomon Kumangar, on Sunday.
Mr. Solomon, said that that the octogenarian died on Sunday around 2.30 p.m. after a protracted illness.
“He was on admission at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola and was discharged yesterday only to later collapse,” Mr Solomon said.
Reacting to the death, Atiku tweeted, “Alhaji Umaru Badami, who passed on Sunday, was a soldier and patriot who served our country with distinction. He will be sorely missed. On behalf of my family, I express my deepest condolences to the Fintiri family. May Allah forgive him his sins and admit him to Paradise.”
The deceased, a retired soldier, is survived by a wife and six children, including Fintiri.
Badami has been buried according to Islamic rites after funeral prayers at the Yola Central Mosque.
