A former governor of Imo State Senator Rochas Okorocha has pointed out that becoming the governor of Imo State made him even poorer.
The former governor made this statement during a program on Channels Television entitled Sunday Politics. According to him those claiming that he embezzled funds in Imo State and diverted public funds to acquire personal properties should come and confront him with facts.
Rochas Okorocha who now represents Imo West Senatorial District at the Upper Chamber of Nigeria’s legislative house said that those who are saying he acquired personal properties with Imo State’s money are probably referring to a hotel in Abuja owned by his wife and used to fund their foundation.
He further said Nigerians have forgotten that he was Rochas Okorocha before becoming Imo State Governor. He also claimed that with the meagre salary he received as Imo State Governor he was able to build the best international cargo airport and police station in the country as well as 27 hospitals.
Do you believe that becoming a governor can make someone poorer in Nigeria?
