The Socio Economic Rights And Accountability Project, SERAP, has fronwed at President Muhammadu Buhari’ s decision to buy vehicles to the tune of N1. 4bn for Niger Republic, Nigeria’ s neighbour.
Although the federal government had justified the reason for the purchase, noting that it’ s to fight insecurity, SERAP implored Buhari to ask for a refund of the money so it could be used to fund education and send Nigerian students back to class rooms amid the strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
SERAP wrote: ” BREAKING: The Buhari administration must immediately ask Niger Republic authorities to refund the N1. 4 billion approved for them to buy vehicles, and use the money to offset the funding for ASUU, so that poor children can go back to school. ”
Meanwhile, the money gift to Niger Republic had set social media abuzz with reactions.
