Governor Hope Uzodinma has enjoined the newly inaugurated Implementation Committee of the White Paper on Lands And Related Matters to expedite actions on their assignment.
This might cause trouble for Senator Rochas Okorocha who has a running battle with the Imo State government over allegations of corruption.
According to a report by DAILY POST NIGERIA, a High Court Sitting in Owerri, the Imo State Capital has ordered the lawmaker to finally and absolutely forfeit all properties linked to him, to the government of Imo state.
All properties to be forfeited by Senator Rochas Okorocha, according to the court ruling, are listed on 46 pages of the state government white paper on recovery of lands and properties that are owned by the government of Imo state.
Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie, who was sacked as Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University (IMSU) by then then- governor Rochas Okorocha, was appointed by Governor Hope Uzodinma as Chairman of the Committee.
According to Daily Post Nigeria, the Imo state governor enjoined the committee to recover all the properties gazetted in the white paper.
Governor Hope Uzodinma urged them to recover for Imo state all the assets as set out in the recommendations of the commission.
The Governor gave the charge on Monday at the Imo State Government House, Owerri. It was during the inauguration of the white paper committee.
According to the governor, the implementation of recommendations of the committee is a defining moment of the social contract that exists between Imo state and its people.
In his words: ” With the inauguration of this committee, the three mantras of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery have further been amplified as a compass for the conduct of government business under my watch, ” the governor said.
The political battle that exists between Governor Hope Uzodinma and Senator Rochas Okorocha can better be described as clash of the Titans.
It is needless to say the war seems to be getting worst with every move made by the Imo state government. Senator Rochas Okorocha has largely been at the receiving end.
The federal lawmaker has had his hand burnt and his nose bloodied under the Governor Hope Uzodinma administration.
The Governor appears to be all out to see the fight to the finish. He appears poised to get Senator Rochas Okorocha on his knees.
Whatever it is, if truly, the lawmaker is found guilty of all the allegations leveled against him by the Imo state government, he should be made to face the full weight of the law. Otherwise, he should be set free.
