Professor Attahiru Jega has stated that he never considered running for the presidency of Nigeria in 2023, Daily Trust reports.
The former chairman of the INEC said he believed in God, and nothing is impossible for God, so he left everything to God. Jega called on Nigerians to hold their elected officials accountable for their actions.
Former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, has said he has no plans to run for president in 2023, according to The Cable.
Jega made the remarks at a lecture hosted by Kwara on Saturday, saying he had not told anyone he was interested in running for president.
Professor Jega said: ” I did not tell anyone that I was interested in running for president, it was just a rumor and a rumor in the media. ”
He said: ” Yes, it is true that I have registered with a political party, because I have decided that I will not only keep an eye on it, I will also contribute to Nigerian politics. ”
” There is a time for everything but now I have no plans to run. I am a Muslim, I believe in God and I know that nothing Is impossible for God, so I leave everything to God. ” he added.
Some people in government knows nothing- Jega
Jega said that most people in government just do not know the way to solve the challenges of the present. Therefore, the former INEC chairman called on Nigerians to hold politicians accountable for all that is happening, as reported by Daily Trust.
Which political party does Jega belong to?
Since 2019, the former chairman of the Electoral Commission and an expert in political science has announced his joining the PRP.
Also in September, 2021, Jega was among those announced in the new party that will save Nigeria from its current predicament. Several groups supporting Attahiru Jega have called for him to run for president in 2023.
