BREAKING: Kidnapped Journalist’s Wife Regains Freedom In Calabar

Uduak OKoro, wife of the Daily Sun Correspondent in Cross River State, Mazi Judex Okoro has been released by her abductors.

Mrs. Okoro who was kidnapped three days ago by unknown gunmen around Big Qua Town, near Apostolic Church, Calabar Municipal area council, Cross River State was released yesterday at about 11:30Pm.

Confirming her release, Mazi Okoro who is also the Chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel in the state said that “My wife has been released. She was released around 11:30pm on Thursday night”.

While thanking his colleagues and well wishers for the support and solidarity he enjoyed while his wife was held hostage, he revealed that she was in stable condition as she was released unhurt.

According to him, “It’s when you’re in situation like this that you know whether you’re loved or not. I want to thank Cross Riverians, my kinsmen and the Nigeria Union of Journalists for their solidarity. People really showed me love. My wife is in stable condition. She was released unhurt”.

A source who do not want his name mentioned however said that she was released in an undisclosed location in Calabar South local government area after undisclosed amount of money was paid as ransom.
