BREAKING: New Date For Re-opening Of Schools Released

Basic Education Deputy Minister Reginah Mhaule has announced that National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) and CEM have decided to delay the reopening of public and private schools for two weeks as the country fights the second Covid-19 wave.

The Department of Basic Education is this morning briefing media on the reopening of schools. Deputy Minister Reginah Mhaule is this morning delivering the statement.

Mhaule said that learners to return to school on 15 February 2021. “Private schools, which had already opened will also need to delay will need to postpone their reopening to a later date,” she said.

Mhaule responds to a question over Minister Angie Motshekga being absent at today’s media briefing. “I don’t know if it’s Covid related but the Minister is at home, she is not well and is recovering.”

This is a good news given the fact that we are dealing with the second wave of the virus and children have to be protected.
