Buhari Has a Preferred Presidential Candidate in 2023 – Adesina
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, says his boss has a favourite candidate to succeed him in 2023 but will not name names.
Adesina made the announcement on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Thursday.
So far, Justice and Attorney General Abubakar Malami, Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Niger Delta Minister Godswill Akpabio, Labour and Employment Minister Chris Ngige, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Ogbonnaya Onu, and Minister of State for Education Emeka Nwajiuba have all joined the All Progressive Congress presidential campaign (APC).
Adesina, who stated that he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke about the ASUU strike and how eager the president is to resolve the issue.
“In a previous interview, when the president was asked if he had a favourite candidate, he answered yes; but he will not mention him because mischief may happen to that person,” Adesina explained.
That demonstrates that the president is interested in the process and has a preferred candidate; however, whether he will impose his candidate is unknown at this time.
Adesina, on the other hand, stated that based on the president’s recent directive that political appointees resign by May 16, the president may decide to fill certain positions if some ministers resign.
