The federal high court has downplayed claims by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), that there is a plot to stop the acting chief judge of the trial court, John Tsoho from holding the position substantively.

This claim was dismissed by the registrar of the court, Emmanuel Gakko. The CUPP had accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to prevent Tsoho from becoming the substantive chief judge.

The coalition also accused APC of influencing the selection of new supreme court justices who would preside over the appeal filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, against the judgement of the election petition tribunal that upheld the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
