Former Presidential aide to ex- President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to the Thursday visit of Imo state by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former presidential aide believes that it was demeaning for the president of a nation so big like Nigeria to put on such trousers.
President Muhammadu Buhari was in Imo State to commission some projects as well as hold some meetings with some Igbo groups.
He had, during his visit to project sites for commissioning, promised to assist the government of Imo state In tackling insecurity in the state.
His promise to assist the Imo State Government in combating insecurity in the drew cheers and applauds by members of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo who were present to receive the president.
That was when Reno Omokri felt uncomfortably different. Daily Post Nigeria quotes him to have said: ” Look at the trousers he wore.
” Is a man who wore that kind of trouser competent to give you security, stability, and development? Ohanaeze should not clutch at straws. If they rely on Buhari’ s promises, they will all die one by one, ” he said.
Reno Omokri feels that President Muhammadu Buhari does not have the capacity to secure any portion of Nigeria.
He believes that the president has failed in his primary duty in protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians, Katsina his home state inclusive.
Daily Post Nigeria quotes Reno Omokri to have said: ” Last week, Masari, the governorr of Buhari’ s home state of Katsina, was lamenting on Channels television that bandits have taken over his state and markets and schools are closed.
” In Zamfara, in Buhari’ s Northwest region, telecommunications services have been shut down completely due to bandits. The Northwest is currently worse than Afghanistan.
” Yet Buhari went to Imo yesterday to promise Ndi’ Igbo security and Ohanaeze celebrated. No be juju be that? Can Buhari give to the Igbos what he can’ t give to his own state and region? ” Reno Omokri asked.
This is arguably a million dollar question. Hopefully, the president gets to fulfill his promises to the people of Imo state. Else this could pass to be just another political move to win the applause of Imolites.
But being who he is, a man of action, Imo state might end up getting more federal presence in terms of security. President Muhammadu Buhari might decide to prove a point.
Be that as it may, Nigerian politicians remain who they are; politicians. They never change. Until the promises are kept, all that the people of Imo state can do is wait
