View pictures in App save up to 80% data. The former COAS and current Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic, Tukur Burutai has been reported to have an influence on the arrest of Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho.
According to Punchng.com, it stated on the front page an headline, with story of a top security source who revealed the role of former COAS in Igboho’s arrest.
The source told Punch that Nigeria Government who foresaw that Sunday would want to make a move to travel outside the country, after effort to arrest him in his home (Ibadan) proved abortive, had quickly sent a secret letter to Benin’s Ministry of External Affairs, through it Ambassador (Burutai) dated July 7, 2021. The letter which was received by Police through the Ministry of Internal Affairs influenced his arrest.
Igboho was reported to have escaped to the airport before being lured back by travel agent after he was discovered to be the person being hunted for. The source finalize that a lot of people made effort to resolve the matter but that Tukur Burutai was already aware and pushes that Igboho must be extradited.

However, a group of legal team backing Igboho has been reported to counter Burutai’s extradition move. Also Germany Embassy is also intervening simply because Igboho’s wife who was arrested with him at the airport (on Monday) is a German citizen.
