Recall that few days after the remains of the slain Super TV boss ‘Usifo Ataga’ was discovered about a month ago, his girlfriend ‘Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu’ was traced to her house with a team of the police force where she was arrested. And she immediately confessed to murdering the billionaire by stabbing him three times!
But in another interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) late last month, she said that she had lost count of the number of times she stabbed the business man lover of hers.
However, a few days ago, she went on to take the general public by surprise when she told Crime Fighters (CF) that the slain man had sent her to buy food for them to eat, and then locked the door while she was leaving. But she returned to their logde to meet him dead.
Three things made her interview with CF particularly annoying to most people. They are: her pretty new looks even though she was in detention, her being frequently interviewed, and above all, her claim that she did not have a hand in the death of her late lover. And all of these have culminated into some members of the public angrily accusing the police of trying to compromise justice; hence it will not be a surprise if she is later said to be innocent of the crime to which she had originally confessed.
Although, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Hakeem Odumosu, later announced the arrest of more suspects in connection with the Inhuman incident, those who are already losing hope in the case need to keep their confidence in the police. This is because, based on their complaint that Chidinma was not supposed to be well-dressed and full of smiles during her last interview with CF, it did not really imply that any kind of compromise had been made.
For instance, between the time that the nightmarish Lawrence Anini was allegedly captured in October, 1986 and when he was executed in December of the same year, he was not manhandled, even though it was during a military regime. Therefore, why should a suspect be mistreated while her case progresses in a democratic goverment? By the way, the shooting of Anini’s leg by the police was not torment him, but only to effect his arrest. But as a result, he was unavoidably amputated during his treatment and investigations.
In addition to the above, a cousin of late Ataga has also allegedly joined many others to say that Chidinma alone could not have tied his (Ataga’s) hands so tightly that the ropes even pierced into his flesh.
CONTINUE TO REST IN PEACE. AMEN!
