Comply With UN Order On Immediate Release Of Nnamdi Kanu, Says Anambra CAN Chairman

Nnewi – Venerable Christian Nweke, the Anambra State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has made a passionate appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately comply with the recent United Nations human rights group on arbitrary detention and immediately release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader from detention.

Ven. Nweke added that now is the time for the President to rise to the occasion and stop unnecessary judicial consideration of the matter. Making this appeal while speaking to newsmen after a pastoral visit to his church, Emmanuel Anglican Church, inland town Onitsha by Bishop Owen Nwokolo, the Anglican Bishop of the Niger for confirmation, inductionof men, boys, girls, women to men fellowship, women and girls guild respectively.

Nweke noted that the release of Kanu is the most ideal thing now that world body has pronounced their stand on the matter, adding that the order if complied with by President Buhari will further bolster the country’s image in the international community as well as douse security and political tension in the country, especially in the south-east.

On the situation in the country as it concerns the area of security and political development, he described insecurity as the greatest problem facing the country and berated the government for its inability to nip criminality it the bud just as he condemned the APC led by President Buhari of insensitivity to the feeling of Nigeria Christian by fielding the presidential ticket from one denomination, adding that the party has shot its’ members on the foot.

Expressing optimism that the hand of God had started intervening in the national affairs concerning electoral and political development, he opined that the recent outcome of the Osun State governorship election where the incumbent administration lost to another party, amendment of the electoral act that made it possible for impunities to be controlled leading to most of our politicians losing their positions as well as control of manipulation of recording of the outcome of election results.
