Former President Jacob Zuma will be in court in August 10 for his arms deal trial. This was confirmed by his Jacob Zuma Foundation on Tuesday morning.
Zuma’s legal team were in court yesterday arguing that their client should not be made to appear for his trial virtually but in person. It now seems like they will have their way as the court is seemingly listening to them.
“The Constitution has prevailed at last! There can be NO virtual criminal proceedings in the absence of an accused person who is unable to consult with his lawyers,” said the organization in a tweet.
“See you at Pmb High Court on 10 August 2021.Long Live The Constitution,” added the foundation.
Zuma has been in the Estcourt Correctional Centre for a week now for his 15 month jail sentence for his contempt of court. He was found wanting by the Constitutional Court.
