Frisco — Getting comfortable with the mask

Five head coaches around the league have been fined $100,000 for not wearing their masks during games. McCarthy hasn’t been one of them.

And he won’t be added to that list.

“That’s a lot of money,” the Cowboys head coach said. “So I will continue to wear my mask.

“I’m getting used to it. I found a mask that was a lot more comfortable in the second game. I’ve been trying to wear it almost all the time here at work. I think it’s like anything, you just have to get used to it.

“I get to take it off for this wonderful 30 minutes with the media. I’m thankful for that. But I think it’s like anything, you’re doing it for the right reasons and as far as what’s out there. How it’s being regulated, I really don’t have a comment on that.

“Just trying to do the right thing.”

Wait. Let’s go back to another statement. He’s thankful for his time with the media?

Have those words crossed McCarthy’s lips before?

“Nah, you can’t get me with trick questions today,” he said. “I’m sharp.

“I’ve had a lot of coffee.”
