The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied any involvement in the attack on Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano on Tuesday. Unknown gunmen opened fire on security operatives in Governor Obiano’ s vehicle during a campaign organized by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Tuesday at Odoata Central School Field in Ihiala, lasting almost an hour.
According to the group, it is sad that some people who are frightening their fellow politicians ahead of the state’ s governorship election on November 6 will turn to bloodshed to get power.
Emma Powerful, the group’ s media and publicity secretary, confirmed this in a statement posted on Wednesday.
Powerful warned Southeasterners to be cautious, alleging that Fulani terrorists had been planted in the region to kill high- profile Igbos.
IPOB did not come to kill, but to save, restore, and reconstruct, according to the statement.
” We, the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great and leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU, strongly condemn the spate of senseless attacks on innocent people in the Southeast by politically- recruited hoodlums dressed as unknown gunmen, ” the statement reads.
” It is sad that some unpatriotic and unscrupulous individuals who are bullying their fellow politicians in Anambra State ahead of the November 6 governorship election may resort to bloodshed because of power. ” Even more irritating is the fact that some misled individuals will raise accusing fingers at IPOB. ”
” We strongly condemn yesterday’ s attack on Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano. IPOB had no involvement in the aforementioned attack, contrary to claims made by our enemies. Those accused of masterminding the killings in Governor Obiano’ s state appear to be furious at him for exposing them. ”
” The governors of the Southeast, whom Obiano declared he would not sit at the table with to discuss insecurity in his state, should be forced to explain everything they know about the killings in Anambra State. ”
” We feel sorry for those who are chasing shadows and accusing IPOB. Such individuals are unaware of the power that politicians wield.
” Igbo politicians were not always like this, but thirst for power and the Fulani cabal’ s intent to repeat what happened in Imo State in Anambra State are to blame. They want to demonize IPOB in the end. ”
” Our people must shine their eyes because Fulani terrorists have been planted in our land to kill high- profile Biafrans. Those claiming to be Igbo elites, Ohanaeze leaders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders must look within themselves to find these FULANI- backed murder agents. ”
” They should not associate IPOB with these murders since IPOB came to save, repair, and rebuild, not to kill. “
