Omoyele Sowore’s decision to walk into the courtroom with a herbalist as escort appears to have backfired. Since he made the move, Nigerians have been criticizing him on social media.
He has been accused of replicating the antics of other politicians, who want to desperately curry the favour of different social, religious and economic groups. One of the leading voices attacking the pro-democracy activist and politician is Reno Omokri, a writer and former presidential aide. Omokri called him a blackmailer who stands for nothing.
He buttressed his point with a collage of photos showing Sowore within the mosque as well as other Christian denominations. “When a Blackmailer Does Not Stand for Something, He Will Fall For Anything!’ Omokri posted on Twitter and it has gone viral. Thousands of Nigerians also agree with the derogatory view of Omokri.
It is not clear if this move might jeopardize his presidential ambition ahead of the 2023 election. Sowore contested in 2019 and lost to President Muhammadu Buhari by a wide margin. Will you vote for Sowore if he contests for the presidency in 2023? Do you think he is a serious contender or pretender?
