The case is between Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra against Nigeria and the Security Agencies. Justice K. C. J. Okereke of the Federal High Court that preside over the issue and a Court in Umuahia has fixed 7 October as new date for the issue.
Nnamdi Kanu joined Attorney General of the Federation, Chief of Army Staff, Inspector General of Police, Director General, State Security Services and three others in the issue.
As early as 5am on Tuesday 21 September, 2021 authorities was seen with security along the Umuahia- Ikot Ekpene road in Abia State, venue of the Federal High court where the matter was to be heard. Police created blockade in the road which caused a lot of traffic along the busy road.
Despite the heavy rain fall, the parties involved in the case found a way into the court. But the Court didn’ t hear the case filed in the Court because the people Nnamdi Kanu joined in the matter didn’ t file their response.
The presiding Judge Justice K. C. J. Okereke encouraged all the people that their name was mentioned in the Court case to respond before 7 October.
From the court documents, it showed that Nnamdi Kanu hasn’ t forgotten the raid on his house in Afara Ukwu, Abia state in 2017. That is one the reason he took Nigeria Government to this Court case.
The separatist leader also accused Federal Government of human rights infringement. Nnamdi Kanu also said that his alleged arrest in Kenya is unconstitutional. He also added that Nigeria security allegedly tortured him and detained him illegally.
In the Federal High Court premises Umuhari, Aloy Ejimakor, Lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu told BBC that; ” They decided to take the same step by Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Igboho in this Umuhahia Court case” . Ejimakor said what Nnamdi Kanu filed in Court
