Sunday Igboho Releases Press Statement, Sends Warning To Police, DSS And Army Over FG’s Shooting Order.
Following the federal government shoot-on-sight order to the Department of State Services operatives, Nigerian Army and police at anyone found in possession of AK47s, Yoruba freedom fighter Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho has released a press statement. In an audio played by his spokesperson Olayomi Koiki, the activist was blunt and specific about his message to the Nigerian operatives regarding the order.
The Yoruba activist commended the federal government shoot-on-sight order to anyone who moves around with AK47s.
He however urged DSS operatives , Nigerian Army and police not to bring ethnic sentiments in their efforts to carry out this order. He pleaded to them not to misuse the order by shooting at farmers or people carrying double barrels for their personal security and after killing the innocent farmers, then find a crooked means to place AK47s around them. He warned them to desist from this. He added that Sheikh Gumi had showed them where bandits and criminals are in the forest, urging them to go to their hideouts and not to witch hunt the innocent people.
Don’t come over to Yoruba land or any Southern part of the country and start shooting at people with double barrel guns which they use for protection or game hunting. You were not told to bring ethnicity into it. If you do so, it will backfire. He stressed. The freedom said he is speaking as the mouthpiece for all Yoruba residing anywhere under the globe.
It would be recalled that the federal government had at last week issued a shoot-on-sight order following worsening cases of insecurity in the North and more recently in the South which are being perpetrated by bandits and killer herdsmen. The federal government’s order is aimed at disarming illegal gun carriers.
