• Lack of exercise.
• Being overweight.
- Gestational diabetes
Gestational diabetes is caused due to insulin-blocking hormones produced during pregnancy. This type of diabetes occurs only during pregnancy.
Symptoms Of Diabetes.
Diabetes symptoms differs, it depends on how much your blood sugar increases. Some people, especially those with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, may sometimes not experience symptoms. Some of the symptoms of diabetes are:
- Presence of ketones in the urine (ketones are a byproduct of the breakdown of muscle and fat that occurs when you have insufficient insulin).
Unexplained weight loss.
Frequent infections, such as gums or skin infections and vaginal infections.
Your eating habit contributes to what triggers your risk for diabetes. Below are certain things you should do away with to prevent diabetes:
- Waking up at midnight to eat
If you have diabetes, late-night snacks aren’t good for you. Late-night snacks add extra calories, which can lead to increased weigh. And, if you snack after your evening meal, especially on foods with carbohydrates you may wake up the next day with a high blood sugar level.
If you feel hungry after having dinner, try drinking a glass of water first. If you’re still feeling hungry, your best option is a low-carbohydrate, low-calorie snack, preferably one that’s high in protein or fiber such as nuts.
- Too much fried foods consumption
According to a long-term study, people who eat fried foods alot may have a higher risk of type 2. People who eat fried food at least once per week have a low risk of both type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and that the risk rises as the frequency of fried food consumption increases.

- Too much intake of sugary drinks
Sugary soft drinks have frequently been linked with poorer health if consumed on routinely.
Research have shown that regular intake of sugary drinks and energy drinks raises your risks of obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Generally speaking, sugary soft drinks should be avoided by people with diabetes and consumed less by people at a higher risk of diabetes.
