Drunk Policeman Shoots A Guest In A Hotel In Ekiti State

A young man named Olaoye Abayomi died prematurely after a team of drunken police officers opened fire on the guests on Saturday night in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Abayomi was with his friend Idris Adebayo at the Queens Court Hotel on the Ado Ikere-Route when the police officers, together with a retired Deputy Inspector General of the Police, arrived on the scene with a vehicle bearing the number plate “PF 600 – WSH” and misbehaved while under the influence of alcohol.

They threatened to kill some of the guests and suddenly opened fire.

Abayomi was hit by a stray bullet which killed him on the spot.

The event caused a great uproar in the area and forced the guests to seek shelter, while those who suffered gunshot wounds were taken to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

The spokesman for the State Police, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident and added that the command had launched an investigation into the matter.
