Jeff Bezos has slipped off the top spot on the world’s billionaires chart as Elon Musk overtakes him to become the world’s richest man on Earth today. Elon Must moved up above Jeff Bezos with a whooping net worth of $185 billion passing Bezos’s $184 billion net worth.
The increase in Tesla’s share price pulled Elon musk up and above Jeff Bezos who had retained the top spot since 2017. Elon Musk’s wealth surge over the past few years becomes the fastest rise to the top in history of billionaires around the world.
Musk’s net worth in the first quarter of 2020 was $27 billion and barely made the top 50 list. Tesla’s rapid growth in share price which has also multiplied about nine folds has added $150 billion to the net worth of Elon Musk. Tesla’s share went up more than 5% up to $800 in mid day of Thursday. The company’s market value has grown to over $750 billion.
