As the SARS protests heats up across the country, many have seen this as an opportunity to air out their grievances against the recently disbanded police unit, SARS.

Other protesters, as seen in this video, have also used the opportunity to further fortify themselves for the journey ahead.

With the killings in Ogbomosho and just yesterday, in Surulere, the protesting youths have decided to spiritually fortify themselves in case of a shoot out with the policemen during the protest.

This perhaps, may have prompted these women to come and give out these blessings for free on the protest ground.

The location is however unknown but from the language, it is a southwestern state.

From the video, 6 women are seen attending to some of the area boys partaking in the protest.

5 of the women are in white Ifa attire with white spotted powder on their skin, the one which appears to be their leader is seen with a red wrapper.

With the incantations given, It appears the Ifa Priestesses are giving their own share of the blessings for the protest,

The boys file in, one after the other to collect whatever blessing the woman is giving and they rob it on the heads and around their faces.

The kind of fortification the ritual hopes to achieve is not known.

Also the person videoing is a lady as we can hear when she said “Amin” to the prayers of the priestess.

From the level of brutality in recent protests, we can say for sure, that as far as the African traditional religion is concerned, ‘juju’ will always prevail but the contention of whether it works or not, lies with the users.
