After the recent killing of the Nigerian Soldiers by Boko Haram in Borno state, the Nigerian military has retaliated. Just days ago, my heart was broken by the reports that 33 Nigerian soldiers were killed by Boko haram leaving about 20 injured. However, reports now claims the Nigerian troops have killed at least 41 Boko Haram members while on patrol in the same state.
According to the statement that was given by the army spokesman, Mohammed Yerima, the terrorists were annihilated by troops of operation Lafiya dole while on patrol in the early hours of Monday.
The general added that the terrorists were interjected by the Nigerian troops before both parties engaged in a gun battle for 45 minutes at the Musuri axis. He noted that the Nigerian troops however overpowered the terrorists due to their superior firepower, killing at least 41 of them in the process.
However, that’s not all, 60 abductees were also rescued in the process. Meanwhile, Some sophisticated weapons and items were recovered afterwards, namely; 12 AK 47 rifles, 8 Fabric Nationale (FN) rifles and Improvise Explosive Devices (IEDs), a motorcycle, 6 bicycles, mechanic tool boxes, a sewing machine, large quantity of batteries used for making of and sex enhancement drugs amongst others. Personally, I am delighted by this report, knowing fully well that the Nigerian soldiers are trying their best to end the insecurity issues in the country.
What do you have to say about this? Do you think the Nigerian Soldiers have what it takes to defeat Boko Haram? Leave a comment so I can know what you think. Thanks.
