An official attached to Nigeria’ s secret police, the Department of State Services has been murdered in Owerri, Imo state, Saharareporters reports.
At the moment, details of the circumstances surrounding his death is still sketchy as it had been alleged in some quarters that he was killed by accidental discharge.
A cousin to the deceased, one Deacon Daniel Opara who revealed that the deceased was married with kids before his death said the family suspects foul play in the incident.
In his words, ” We are yet to get the details of what actually happened as it was alleged that he was killed from an accidental discharge from the gun of a police officer attached to his colleagues with whom he was on a Joint Task Force on an assignment to Anambra State. ”
” The family is suspecting foulplay as he was said to have been recently promoted. He joined the service about four to five years ago and was married with four children before his unfortunate demise. ”
Reacting to the incident on social media, Gabriel Eyewuoma wrote, ” The funny thing that most of you don’ t realise is that the person killed is Igbo. I challenge ESN to defend the lives of Igbos if they have no hand in the killings. ”
He added, ” If they can’ t defend Ndigbo generally then they should tell us if their power is only about driving innocent students from writing their exams and market women from going to the market on Monday? ”
Raymund Faustin wrote, ” Finally they have stopped blaming IPOB for the evil they are doing to themselves. They kill each other and end up blaming innocent IPOB because the action took place in the east. No wonder supreme court Governor of Imo state was recently accused of taking part in the killings. Madness everywhere. ”
