The embattled former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani- Kayode, who was reportedly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Lagos, has denied his arrest’ s story.
Fani- Kayode, who was said to be under investigation for alleged forgery and manipulation of documents was brought to the Lagos Zonal Office of the anti- graft agency on Tuesday, reports said.
As the news of his arrest make waves owing to the analogy that he is supposed to get a cover for his crimes as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, the ex- minister on Twitter said, ” I pity those that said I was arrested. They are filled with hate & live on fake news. Since when did an invitation & a friendly chat become an arrest? And even if I had been arrested, SO WHAT? I am not above the law & neither does joining APC give me immunity. My God is MIGHTY! . ”
It should be noted that Fani- Kayode has been having a running battle with the EFCC for some time now.
Reports say he was once remanded for 67 days in 2016 alongside a former minister of finance, Nenadi Usman, with the duo and two others facing a 17- count of criminal conspiracy, fraud and money laundering to the tune of N4. 9 billion.
Although they denied the allegations, and each of them was later granted N250 million bail, Fani- Kayode remained under EFCC’ s watch.
Reacting to his denial of an arrest, @Chinodu said, ” Since when did invitation and a friendly chat become bailable that you need to bail yourself based on self recognition before you’ re allowed to go HOME? You spent more than 6hours in a friendly discussion and invitation. . . Are you the incoming spokesperson for EFCC? ”
@Oyedika said, ” You weren’ t even invited. You went for a friendly visit to see your brothers for bridge building. ”
@Striipk said, ” Why do you feel the need to continue defending yourself effortlessly here if it doesn’ t prIlck you, if there isn’ t an atom of truth in it, why are you constantly talking to prove them wrong. Did they arrest you or not? ”
@KarlMax55 said, ” You are now on your own since you’ ve joined our oppressors just for food and wine. How would you be remembered in the new Nigeria we are all working towards? Are you at peace with your answer? “
