Far From Truce, See The Tough Questions Wike Asked Atiku During Their Reconciliation Meeting
Some questions that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, allegedly asked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, have surfaced. Nigerians understand that the two party chieftains have been at odds since the unveiling of Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as Atiku’ s running mate in the 2023 election.
In a bid to resolve the crisis, Wike and Atiku met yesterday in Abuja at the instance of the party’ s Board of Trustees (BoT), led by Senator Walid Jibrin. But despite all efforts, the meeting did not lead to truce, a source told Daily post.
At the meeting held at the residence of the former minister of information and culture, prof. Jerry Gana, was presented, Atiku reportedly boasted that PDP can win next year’ s election without many votes from Rivers State. The presidential hopeful reportedly said there is no cause for concern if Wike does not want to support him in the upcoming elections.
Atiku was also said to have mentioned that PDP has landed in crisis because Wike monetized the presidential primaries. On the other hand, Wike, who was briefed on what transpired at the BOT meeting, is said to have lamented Atiku’ s recent comment about him.
” In the second meeting, Wike joined issues with Atiku over his recent comments or statements, ” said the source who pleaded anonymity.
