Federal Government Makes New Announcement On National Identification Number Enrolment

The Federal Government of Nigeria has released a fresh announcement on the enrolment of national identification number (NIN).

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) released an announcement via its official twitter account on Friday, warning that those extorting the National Identification Number (NIN) applicants risks a 7- year jail term.

Recall that the federal government of Nigeria initially ordered the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to block all SIM cards that are not registered with National Identification Number (NIN).

The commission also stated that the ongoing National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment is free across the country, adding that extoters will be punished in accordance with the law.

The federal government also urged Nigerians to report any case of extortion for prosecution to serve as a lesson to all offenders.
