Femi Fani-kayode, a famous Nigerian politician and a lawyer has allegedly reacted to the arrest of Sunday Igboho’s wife, Ropo Igboho, in Cotonou. He referred to the situation as the height of wickedness.
Femi Kayode made this known on Wednesday, 21st of July, 2021 via his verified Twitter page.
It should be remembered that, Sunday Igboho and his wife was arrested by the Cotonou government while trying to board plane to Germany on Tuesday.
Fani-Kayode tweeted that “It is the height of wickedness to arrest and detain Sunday Igboho’s wife, Mama Ayomide, alongside him in Cotonou as they were about to board a plane to Germany. Up till now the lady is still in detention.
Even in war women and children are meant to be protected and not targetted. Only barbarians, terrorists, cowards, degenerates, reprobates, evil men and devil-worshippers do otherwise. Mrs. Igboho has not been accused of anything and she has not broken any laws. Her “crime”, in the eyes of her tormentors, is simply being the wife of Sunday.
Leave her alone! Anything less would be cruel. I make this appeal to the authorities in both Cotonu and Nigeria. The women and children of those we perceive as being our adversaries should never be targetted for death, destruction, incarceration, torture, persecution or humiliation.”
Fani Kayode pronounced that the Beninese has no right to detain Sunday Igboho’s wife along with her husband cause she has nothing to do with the situation on ground.
“Mrs Igboho has not been accused of anything and she has not broken any law” He added in his statement.
In addition, Aliu, Sunday Igboho’s lawyer said that Igboho cannot be extradited based on a treaty with Benin that any political offender who is unlikely to get justice at home should not be extradited to the home country.
